Bronner's Christmas Store

On the way to Michigan two weeks ago, I saw a ton of billboards for Bronner's Christmas Store in Frankenmuth, MI.  I remembered going there in the summer of 1983 with my family and got nostalgic.  We decided to take a trip up there the Friday after Thanksgiving with my brother-in-law and niece, and also my mom.  It was almost a two hour drive each way.

It was NOTHING like I remembered. When I went there thirty years ago, it was less of a store and more of a Christmas museum. There were a ton of beautiful animated displays, but now they've moved all of them to the rafters where you can barely see them.

There were a couple of cute snow villages - the boys actually preferred the Halloween one! - but that was about it, other than merchandise to buy.  They did have just about every ornament you could imagine and those were fun to look through.

When we arrived, we signed up to see Santa.  We waited over an hour to be called to get in line, and it was another 20-30 minutes after that.  The kids were very patient (more patient than I was, that's for sure!)

We drove past the town of Frankenmuth on our way out and it looked really cute, but it was cold and we were ready to get home.  I'm pretty sure that will be my last visit up that way.
